Voices of the Resistance: Sophie Scholl

Read and/or listen to excerpts from Sophie Scholl’s letters here. They are read by Elba Slamecka, a student member of the White Rose Project. The letters are available in German in Hans Scholl and Sophie Scholl, Hans Scholl, Sophie Scholl: Briefe und Aufzeichnungen, ed. by Inge Jens (Frankfurt a.M.: Fischer Taschenbuch Verlag, 1988). There is also an English-language edition, Inge Jens (ed.), At the Heart of the White Rose: Letters and Diaries of Hans and Sophie Scholl, trans. by J. Maxwell Brownjohn (Walden, NY: Plough Publishing House, 2017). The translations here are by Lydia Ludlow, Amira Ramdani, and Amelia Farley (University of Oxford).
